Biography of Sensei John Weis

I was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico on December 12, 1994. I started my Martial Arts career when I was ten in Alamogordo, New Mexico. The arts have helped me in almost every aspect of my life and have helped me perform in school and achieve most of my goals do far. So far in my Martial Arts career I have studied Moo Duh Kwon Tae Kwon Do and Shotokan Karate with a couple of steps here and there in other arts from my dad's teachings.

When I was ten I asked my dad (Gerard Weis) if I could start the Martial Arts and he said yes but he told me that he wouldn't start me himself. So we went around town for a little bit and found the Place American Spirit Tae Kwon Do ran by Mr. Jim Matthews at the time. Under Mr. Matthews I achieved my first degree Black Belt in just under 3 and 1/2 years. Right after I had gotten into the intermediate belt rankings my dad and my brother (Chris Weis) wanted to start a school and began teaching me Shotokan Karate.

On June 2, 2008 we moved our school named Complete Martial Arts to 1517 10th street, at that time I was a Low Purple Belt or 4th Kyu. On February 27, 2010 I achieved my goal of first degree black belt in Shotokan Karate from the teachings of my dad and my two brothers (Chris and Joe Weis). Over the next year I had helped my brothers here and there with assisting and I also competing in many tournaments.

Finally on May 28, 2011 I made my current rank 2nd degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate. Since then I've been helping out a lot with the school and its activities and am now currently working on becoming a fully certified instructor with the help of my dad and brothers.

Just after being in the Martial Arts for about 6 and 1/2 years I can tell that I will be in the martial arts for the rest of my life and I will never stop enjoying one bit of it. I just can't wait to see what waits for me in my Martial Arts career to come.
